Steve Tilston and The Durbervilles

Internationally renowned singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist Steve Tilston has teamed up with Yorkshire based roots quintet The Durbervilles to bring a magnificent full band sound to selected live dates. The line up adds a tasteful mix of mandolins, electric guitar, accordion, double bass, drums, banjo, 12string, bouzouki and four part harmony to Steve’s acoustic guitar and vocals.

The two acts began the collaboration after Steve invited The Durbervilles to headline at one of his showcase nights at the legendary Hebden Bridge Trades Clubs. The combination of Steve on stage with the band resonated well with all concerned and more dates both secret and public were quickly arranged in the locale, along with a meaningful period of rehearsal. Durbervilles then got involved in Steve’s recording sessions – the first fruit of this being a version of Love Minus Zero/No Limit which appears on a Bob Dylan 70th Birthday compilation released by Fat Cat Records.

Work on a Steve solo album and a Steve Tilston & The Durbervilles EP then followed. The resultant Steve CD “The Reckoning” has subsequently gained 4 star reviews in 3 National newspapers and had enthusiastic plays by BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Mike Harding. The Steve Tilston & The Durbervilles “Oxenhope EP” was unveiled at Cropredy 2011 and has a release date in late Autumn.

Official live dates further afield have wowed audiences during recent performances. The near capacity crowd at Fairport Convention’s Cropredy Festival 2011 enjoyed a performance by Steve Tilston & The Durbervilles on Friday 12th August, (See pictures at www.fairportconvention.com which was also filmed for broadcast by the Sky Arts Channel.
